RJ on the Go
Ever wonder what the psychological and behavioral effects of violence in video games are? Ever feel frustrated, disturbed, or disappointed by what you see on your child’s screen? Feel a little in over your head whenever you try to chat about controllers and consoles? Let’s talk about it! Join Jayme Dale Mallindine, Games Studies Scholar and Director of URJ 6 Points Sci-Tech Academy East, and Rabbi Dan Medwin, parent and Director of Digital Media at CCAR, as we explore together what violence in video games and Judaism have to say to one another. At the end of this session, you’ll leave with some data and statistics, a greater understanding of gaming culture and terminology, and some conversational tools to help you empower your child to make values-based decisions about the type of gamer they want to be. Just like a video game, this session is heavily interactive, so be prepared to press buttons, make choices, and chat!
